Global future of the Internet

Throughout the world today, especially in developing nations, futuristic thinking is rare. Yet, without futuristic thoughts we can't lay claims on inventions and innovations. Futuristic thinking is the cradle of inventions especially when you forecast the likely problems of existing solutions.Think!
As MAC 121 students, note that the internet is an existing solution to many communication challenges today. You are however expected to think up likely problems that the internet solutions will bring to the fore and then proffer solutions. Your creative solutions would most likely be what the internet would be in the future.
In my thoughts the name "internet" will soon change globally.

  1. The internet revolutionized the world in the 1990s and changed the way people accessed information. Today, the internet is a global phenomenon, people can chat online, have business transactions online, make online calls, get access to information in mere seconds and it keeps getting better.

Researchers haven't stopped there and are still trying to get better ways to improve the internet service.
In my opinion the internet would become more global, more accessible and cheaper in the future, it would open up communities. It would make the world a more technological driven world. 3-D graphics would become more sophisticated and virtual interfaces such as viewers would become more realistic. the internet of the future is going to change the world and the way we view the world.

In some years to come, the internet will have to carry way more data than it does today, and do so more reliably. This looming bandwidth crisis has the folks who run the Internet in a tizzy, from local mom-and-pop ISPs to established international telecom giants like Sprint. Players at every level of the Net are frantically scrambling to make the network, from the home desktop to the local ISP to the backbones that tie it all together, faster and more versatile. That costs money, and many of today's ISPs could be priced out of the game. Which is why three years from now, your Internet connection could be faster, your monthly Internet bills higher, and your choice of service providers more limited.

In the future, the word or rather the extension ".com" might be in extinction and Domain Service giants like GoDaddy,Maddog will start selling "Extension Subscriptions" where you can guarantee yourself the various extensions for your domain name.
What I predict to the future is a decent on-line web TV. Actually we have a lot of very good radio stations on the Internet, but only a few TV stations with a very poor quality. To me, the solution is something based on the P2P protocol for descentralized content distribution

As the bandwidth grows, just imagine when anyone, anywhere, will can have their own TV channel. Of course, there will be a lot of junk out there, but websites will help us to find the most popular/quality channels, the same way as web sites does today to find torrent files.

Since the internet will be entirely wireless, money will be saved by businesses in infrastructure like cabling, routers, switches and other installations.

Virtually every page will be translated automatically by the internet explorers, to any language.

  4. the future of the internet depends on how much of research is done on it. The internet will grow so large that it will become necessary to define the owner of the individual host computer through a two- part identifier. However with a little research and some imagination, the chance for one to put together a combination that says a great deal about the organization or site

Most importantly, internet in the next 50 years would be a sophisticated means of communication in the sense that it would be very fast and reliable.Although, the internet might be of great importance in 50 years but at the same time might have some advantage in the sense that it might be very vulnerable to malpractices.
In conclusion, the internet in the next 50 years would be something that one will not be able to do without.it is going to be so useful to humanity and without it the world might be behind.

  6. i see the future of internet moving to an era of technological advancement.in the sense that information would and be gotten instantly and would be criticised instantly. That is sending of un- necessary information could be proved right or wrong about the person could be defended by such individal on the the spot or could be disregarded by such individual instantly. In the future internet would be legalised in the sense that the would be a reduction in cyber crime due to the fact that it s being protected by high technology which would dectect any threat in such information through that would be santioned immediately by the appropriate officials.SOBODU SEGUN SAMUEL

  8. Before internet was slow but due to modern technology the problem has been adressed. There would be an increased speed in electronic commerce, telecommuting, video conferencing and collaborative scientific projects.Highspeed networking enabling professionals to work in ways that seemed impossible.Soon, everything from your car to your refrigerator will be connected to the global network, communicating with each other wirelessly. Attachments to countries will marginally decrease, and attachments to the Earth as a shared resource will significantly increase. It would be able to reach local communities and virtual reality interfaces such as viewers and tactile feedback systems will become more realistic. Wireless Internet networks will offer increasingly faster services at vastly lower costs over wider distances, eventually pushing out physical transmission systems.

  9. The internet is too complex for any grand plan to be applied to it but it does not mean people will not try.We are talking about future problems but really what problem has the internet not caused? There exist issues like Scamming, people control traffic lights illegally via the internet, unauthorized access of companies confidential files, illegal access into peoples websites and emails to change information and the issue of pornography. Now with the sophistication and growth in technology we can only experience more and worse problems and these occur because unlike the Traditional Media (newspaper, television, magazine and radio), the internet is not Licensed. As a result every Tom, Dick and Harry can publish whatsoever without licensing. So the solution to these problems (as they will only get worse in future but will not change)is simply licensing.

  10. In the future, Internet will be highly improved. The use of e-mail addresses and websites will no longer be used. There will be an easier way to locate things and the Internet will be less complex. It will be so simple that even illiterates will be able to use it. Also to improve the Internet, there must be reduction in fraud, because this is discouraging people from dealing with the Internet. Also, also the search engine websites will be greatly improved, in the sense that when you search for something needed, you would'nt have to go round and round before you finally locate it. That's if you are lucky to locate it. There also will be easier access to the Internet no matter where you are. Both in the rural and urban areas.

I think the Internet will control everything that has to do with our day to day life, it will be a lot faster, maybe taking less than a second to access it.The Internet may not also require the need of a computer system alone to access it, it could begin to use any object to access it.It could also require thinking alone to be able to connect to the Internet,The Internet, as we know it today, will become obsolete,Even email, will become obsolete. Instead, we will be communicating by t-mail or telepathic mail. The Internet could also be used in the sharing of some electrical or scientific equipment between people in different locations. Already, we have embedded our consciousness and intelligence into computers. In a few years, we will succeed in embedding our computers into our brain. That is, we will succeed in embedding inanimate intelligence into animate intelligence and living beings.

  12. The Internet has turned the world into a global village and as technology is being developed daily, the Internet will be taken to a whole new era. As researchers are still working tirelessly to further develop the Internet, the future is still very promising. the more the Internet is being developed, the greater danger it proves to the world.
By just a push of a button the entire data base of an organization can be wiped out using the Internet very soon we would be able to get the entire information about a person, ranging from color of eyes and hair to blood group and to virtually any thing about a person any where in the world.
On this note, the Internet should be carefully monitored as it could later be used as a weapon of mass destruction.

  13. Global future of the internet will be so great, why because the world is becoming more technological advance everyday. So I think access to the Internet will be more cheaper and easily accessible especially in developing countries like Nigeria. The business world will really blossom through the Internet. passing across of information at a speedy rate will set in and also the educational status of the world will be much more better. Student will interact with other student of the World.

  14. The Internet as a platform where information is accessed and transactions are made, the internet has really changed the way people communicate and has brought about hidden things which people thought would be impossible to bring to surface. Education and researches is now made simple with this invention.
What I see of the internet in the next 50yrs is that it will be very accessible, it would be cheaper and accessible, I see the world not standing well without the internet. It will come to a situation where the internet would be used as the next alternative. Infact our cars might actually be programmed by the net. I see a situation where people wont advertise anymore on the bill boards, newspapers, television houses because of the increase in the audience on Internet. Everybody wants the internet and inface everybody has it now. I see the internet as an expository platform where things, countries and hidden places will soon be discovered because of this wonderful invention.Indeed the name internet is changing.

  15. I see the Internet becoming as common as possible, to extend that even the layman who knows nothing about it right now would become a Guru in its usage.
I believe the issue of subscription to the net would become a thing of the past because a lot of individuals would move into the telecommunication industry.
Also the issue of PACKET DATA coalission would no more exist.Furthemore the problem of Network congestion would be a thing of the Past. Other electronic devices i believe would be used to acces the Net.
In conclusion i see the Internet beecoming more Sophisticated..

The internet in the next 50 years will be more pronounced.not everybody rely on the internet but then, the internet will be a very reliable source of informing people.
now, people still have to go through processes before the internet can be accessed but then, there will be a global access to internet connection anywhere you are and also more mobile gadget will be invented e.g, small gadget as small as a pen can be used to access the internet.

  17. several technological challenges will be over come if the internet continues to grow at its present phenomenal rate. Today when an average Nigerian wants to surf the web he would have to go to the nearest cybercafe, which might be several kilometers away. this process is not only inconvinient but also time consuming and expensive.

In 50years time there wouldnt be ant cybercafe in existence anymore because there would be free and very efficient internet access everywhere and anywhere in the world. information would be sent at faster rates and the web would be used for many things like banking, business, online education e.t.c.

The global future of the internet, would be seen as a very creative period in media, with increase in speed, development in bandwidth, and also a fundamental change in the way it would be operated. The future of the Internet global distribution of information and knowledge at lower and lower cost will continue to lift the world community for generations to come. People will have access to any information they wish, get smarter sooner, and be more aware of the world outside their local environment. A better informed humanity will make better macro-level decisions, and an increasingly integrated world will drive international relations towards a global focus. Attachments to countries will marginally decrease, and attachments to the Earth as a shared resource will significantly increase, also due to this the expansion of the internet communities cant be avoid, with the more sophistication of three dimensional graphics, high increase bandwidth in 10mbps range and the development would continue to worldwide users through phones, wireless services e.t.c.In the future, cables would not be in use,the high use of modems would overwrite the cable invention. There would also be high resolution of audio and video and viewers would have their choices of general demand.

The use of internet video phones is not far fetched; were you can make calls online and see where the person is or what the person is doing.
There will be 3 dimensial graphics and interfaces with feedback systems. High resolution audio and video will be increasingly available online and the cost of any internet connection will drop.

In a large scale example of the connected Internet fostering technological cooperation, un-used computer cycles from home users across the world will be harnessed together to provide enormous reservoirs of computer power for all sorts of purposes. Increasingly used for scientific and engineering research, Internet will become increasingly integrated with phones, televisions, home appliances, portable digital assistants, and a range of other small hardware devices, providing an unprecedented, nearly uniform level of integrated data communications. Users will be able to access, status, and control this connected infrastructure from anywhere on the Internet.this can create processing powerhouses far larger than any one organization by itself. 29. It is well known that the ARPANET was in use before the INTERNET came to being. The ARPANET was conceived in the year 1969 by the Advsnced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the United States Government. The sole aim was to create a network that would allow users of a research computer at a university to be able "to talk to"
The ARPANET was later worked on properly by some eminent researches and the INTERNET came to being. Now, the birth of the INTERNET brought about the Good, the Bad and the Ugly news. The Bad and Ugly news in the sense that people are robbed of their account or intending university undergraduates are duped of a supposed school fees amongst others not to talk more of the Virus threats that 'eats' up a system. I think this Bad News can be brought to a halt if only there are some form of detectors or trackers that would see that the Fraudsters do not succeed in their Fraudulent acts. The Good News the Internet brought is the accessibility and convinience it has provided over the years where there is very easy transmission of the Communication process and the help in either financial or business transaction processes, the help it has bestowed unto researchers amongst others.
In the nearest future, the name of the INTERNET would be called the SUPERNET. Why? This is easy because of the smoothh running and highly accessible the SUPERNET would be to surf. You would need not use your hands on the keyboard if you wish, you can use the words of mouth to surf the SUPERNET. The SUPERNET would be so easy to access that even Dogs that are well trained would be able to surf the NET for their nutrition or check the real location of the place where their Breed is best to stay. I believe that with the introduction of the SUPERNET, the use of the Traditional media as a whole would come to a total halt! Even though that is taking shape already.
The SUPERNET which is best known as the SUPERNET in the nearest future would be free of Virus or Fraudulent threats because it would be properly authorised by Researchers in so many stages that the SUPERNET would not have any other choice than to be the best.

While the technical development of the Internet has been an extensive research topic from the beginning, an increased public awareness of several critical shortcomings in terms of performance, reliability, scalability, security and many other categories including societal, economical and business aspects, has led to Future Internet research efforts. The future of the internet is very attainable and possible. In the present day, the internet has low coverage in most communities, connection mast etc. but the internet of the future has to be free like water because there has to be freedom of information and that is our access to information. For a more worthy definition of the term internet. The primary challenge is to create enough capacity to accommodate increases in traffic. Internet traffic is increasing as more people become Internet users and existing users send greater amounts of data. If the volume of traffic increases faster than the capacity of the network increases, congestion will occur, similar to the congestion that occurs when too many cars attempt to use a highway. So the challenge is to provide more capacity for users while there will be accessibility

It e-mails a shopping list to your local supermarket and coordinates a convenient delivery time with your schedule. Say hello to a brave, new world. This and so many more I see happening in Nigeria in the next 50 years.

A better informed humanity will make better macro-level decisions, and an increasingly integrated world will drive international relations towards a global focus. Attachments to countries will slightly decrease, and attachments to the Earth as a shared resource will significantly increase. High resolution audio, video, and virtual reality will be increasingly available online and on demand, and the cost of all kinds of Internet connections will continue to drop. The Internet will be integrated with phones, televisions, home appliances, portable digital assistants, and a range of other small hardware devices, providing a nearly uniform level of integrated data communications. Users will be able to access, status, and control this connected infrastructure from anywhere because the internet will be built in these devices. The internet is nearly the speed of light but in the future it would be as the speed of light.

The internet has affected the everyday life of people, businesses, governments, communication companies etc. The internet has the good and bad side of influence on the world. An example of the good side of the internet is what i have done because without the internet i can't post this view of mine on this blog while the bad side of the internet is the ever growing rate of hackers on the internet. To curb the excesses and improve on the good side of internet, I think for anyone to access the internet you will have to be fully and duly registered under the internet law in the nearest future.Things that will be registered include: your tomb, voice profession, sex etc. I think this will enhance the security and privacy concern in the future of internet.

the future of the internet depends on how much of research is done on it. The internet will grow so large that it will become necessary to define the owner of the individual host computer through a two- part identifier. However with a little research and some imagination, the chance for one to put together a combination that says a great deal about the organization or site. Most importantly, internet in the next 50 years would be a sophisticated means of communication in the sense that it would be very fast and reliable

September last year, the Internet turned 40. I think it’s safe to say that no technology has evolved so much in so little time. Even in the past fifteen years or so, it has completely reinvented itself; arguably several times. Now we not only shop, bank, work and meet people online; but we share what we are doing at any given moment (e.g. Twitter), and even keep statistics on daily minutia. We read, listen and watch everything. We Digg, rate, share and favorite content dailyAlready today, 1.5 billion people use the Internet. In a few years, once the Internet has become genuinely mobile, over 4 billion users and billions more devices and objects will be connected anywhere and anytime It could become the central nervous system of a healthy democracy — the greatest engine for free speech, civic engagement, and economic growth ever known.viruses and other malicious malware, defrauders, cheaters will all become extinct.

I believe that in the future, every website will have a password or a form of parental control that restricts children of a certain age group especially teenagers to websites where obscene or violent pictures or videos are being displayed. This will of course require a special log in; maybe the biometrics system can come in in this case. Finger prints will be taken (by then it will be a common feature on laptops just like the webcam today) to predict whether or not the user or the person logging in to that particular website is an adult. I also believe that by then, every individual (workers, business men and women or students will have their bio-data entered into a particular website in such a way that, when their names are goggled their bio –data is shown, this will assist the law enforcement agencies all around the world to get people who are involved in criminal cases.
